Movement Screening

Identify and Correct Weaknesses for Injury Prevention

The Movement Screening service is designed to help you move better, perform better, and reduce your risk of injury. Using the Functional Movement Screen (FMS) test, we assess your body’s movement patterns to identify areas of weakness, imbalance, or vulnerability that may be limiting your performance or putting you at risk for injury. Whether you’re an athlete or someone who wants to stay active and healthy, this screening offers critical insights into how your body moves - and how it can move better.

What is the Functional Movement Screen (FMS)?

The FMS test involves seven key movement patterns that evaluate your mobility, stability, and coordination across different parts of your body. These tests are designed to highlight any limitations or asymmetries in your movement, which can be contributing factors to injury or reduced performance. The FMS includes:

  • Deep Squat – Tests lower-body mobility, core stability, and balance.

  • Hurdle Step – Assesses leg strength, stability, and coordination.

  • In-Line Lunge – Evaluates mobility, balance, and core stability.

  • Shoulder Mobility – Measures upper-body flexibility and shoulder function.

  • Active Straight-Leg Raise – Tests hamstring and hip flexibility.

  • Trunk Stability Push-Up – Assesses core strength and upper-body stability.

  • Rotary Stability – Evaluates core stability and balance during movement.

What to expect?

After completing the FMS test, you’ll receive a detailed analysis of your results, identifying areas where you may be vulnerable to injury or where your movement is restricted. Based on your unique results, I’ll design a corrective exercise programme tailored to your specific needs. This program focuses on improving mobility, strength, and stability in the areas identified, helping you move more efficiently and with less risk of injury.

Once you’ve worked through your corrective programme, we’ll schedule a retest to track your progress and make adjustments to ensure continuous improvement. Whether you’re recovering from an injury, preventing future issues, or simply wanting to perform better in your sport or daily activities, movement screening provides the foundation for safer, more effective training.
