Get to know me

Hi, I’m Ben Mendrys, a dedicated strength & conditioning coach with a passion for developing athletic potential and enhancing performance. Currently, I’m proud to work with Needham Market Football Club, where I help youth players, from under-13s to under-23s, build their athleticism and excel on the pitch. My focus is on shaping the next generation of athletes through targeted strength training, injury prevention, and performance-driven conditioning programs.

My Background

I’ve always lived and breathed football, playing for Claydon FC since the age of 12. Making my senior debut at 16, I now have the honor of captaining the team and have won two league titles along the way. My experience on the field has given me a firsthand understanding of what it takes to succeed in competitive sport, and I’m passionate about translating that into my coaching to help others perform at their best.

In 2022, I competed in the Spartan European Championships, finishing 17th in my age group in Europe. It was a testament to my commitment to my own fitness and performance, and it gave me a unique insight into the mental and physical demands of high-level competition.

My Credentials

Academically, I hold a First Class Honours degree in Sports Performance, and Coaching from the University of Essex (2023), providing me with a strong foundation in the science behind athletic development.

Since beginning my personal training career in 2021, I’ve helped numerous clients achieve incredible transformations, from fitness enthusiasts to aspiring athletes. My approach is always focused on results, but also on making the process enjoyable, sustainable, and tailored to each individual.

Most recently, I was awarded the ‘Trailblazer Award’ by Essex Startups in 2024 for my entrepreneurial work, highlighting my innovative approach to business.
